Hyderabad:The results of the first Special Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test (TGTET) for in-service teachers were declared on Saturday, with 15,749 of the 22,477 candidates who appeared qualifying the examination, taking the overall pass percentage to 70.07 per cent. This also meant that about 30 per cent of the teachers failed the test.
The results were declared at the Office of the Director of School Education in Saifabad, Hyderabad, by Dr Naveen Nicolas, commissioner and director of school education and TGTET chairperson.
Separately, the school education department announced that the notification for the second Special TGTET for in-service teachers would be issued on October 1. The online examinations will be conducted from November 16 to 21.
Candidates can download their results from the school education department website from September 26 and obtain their statement of marks through MeeSeva centres. The second special TGTET comes under the state government’s June 3 order permitting two special TETs exclusively for in-service teachers, apart from the two regular TETs scheduled each year.
The first test was notified on July 21 for in-service teachers working in government, government-aided and local body schools. Of the 24,986 teachers who applied, 22,477 appeared for the computer-based examinations conducted on September 8 and 9.
Paper I recorded 3,398 qualifiers among 4,942 candidates who appeared, a pass percentage of 68.76. Paper II Mathematics and Science had 6,720 qualifiers out of 9,131 candidates, or 73.60 per cent, while 5,631 of the 8,404 candidates who appeared for Paper II Social Studies qualified, or 67 per cent.
The community-wise data showed pass percentages ranging from 63.25 per cent among BC-E candidates to 84.31 per cent among SC Group-III candidates. SC Group-II recorded 80.06 per cent, while BC-C stood at 77.09 per cent. Among persons with disabilities, 308 of the 424 candidates who appeared qualified, a pass percentage of 72.64.
As for districts, Suryapet stood at 80.76 per cent, followed by Nalgonda at 77.49 and Mancherial at 77.34 per cent. Hyderabad had 654 qualifiers among 1,063 candidates who appeared, or 61.52 per cent.
