Spencer Matthews and Vogue Williams welcomed their fourth child, baby Remy, but the reality TV star admits both he and his wife “feel a bit lonely” as he opened up on their “disturbed bubble”
TV star Spencer Matthews and his wife Vogue Williams welcomed a fourth child into their family earlier this month. They now have four kids aged eight and under with tiny tot Remy added to the clan.
The 38-year-old has opened up about the stress the new arrival has placed on the household. The former Made in Chelsea star painted a chaotic picture of what it’s like living in a rented house with four young children.
Speaking to Jamie Laing on the NewlyParents podcast, Spencer said: “Not complaining, we are in that lovely bubble with three other young kids in a rental house because we’re building our house. To be honest, the bubble feels a bit disturbed.
“Vogue and I, both in our own ways, feel a bit lonely at the moment. We have four kids, there has to be a system in place.”
As well as newborn Remy, Spencer and Vogue have Theodore, eight, Gigi, six and four-year-old Otto. Their situation is complicated by living in a rental home in London while their new permanent home undergoes renovations.
The family moved out of their long-time Battersea apartment at the start of this year and have secured planning permission for huge renovations on their London home.
This means it can be difficult to find quiet space in their rather full house, as Spencer has found to his cost.
Spencer said: “There’s a lot going on in our house. Yesterday I had two calls in the afternoon, I left the office, had two calls in the afternoon from home. I’m trying to find somewhere in the house that didn’t look mad to take this call that didn’t have other people in it.”
Jamie asked whether he could have taken the calls in the kitchen, to which his friend responded: “The kitchen? Are you mad.
“The kitchen’s the hub of the house. There’s always someone doing something in the kitchen.”
Spencer then went on to describe how, in a bid to keep the household running, he and Vogue are currently sleeping in separate beds.
He explained: “For us both to have broken sleep is unhelpful to the rest of the family flow. So right now, the system is Vogue and the baby sleep in a big double bed on their own.
“And Vogue manages the night feeds, just her and the child. I sleep in the spare room, at the moment with both boys.”
It comes after Vogue revealed that little Remy almost had a very different name. She and Spencer had a last-minute change of heart after family members weighed in on the matter.
The couple had been preparing to call their son Elvis, but Vogue said they got cold feet after Spencer received “phone calls from family members”.
Speaking on the My Therapist Ghosted Me podcast with Joanne McNally, she admitted: “We have changed our baby name – we have no name. I haven’t ever been 100% comfortable with it.”
Vogue concedes taking on a name like Elvis could be difficult as he’s growing up or trying to get a job as an adult.
