Spice Girl Mel C has opened up to Vogue about tying the knot with Chris Dingwall in an emotional interview about her big day at the weekend

Spice Girl Mel C has spoken for the first time about getting married and how her new husband popped the question in a room full of candles.
The Mirror previously revealed how the singer and Chris Dingwall were getting married at the weekend in Cumbria with guests including Emma Bunton, Mel B and Geri Horner.
Talking about the proposal, Mel told Vogue magazine how they got engaged on holiday in Mallorca last July. She told how after a lavish meal the couple headed back to their hotel suite “a bit drunk and a bit full”, where she found the room had been filled with candles.
“It was beautiful, just the two of us,” she said. “He couldn’t believe I was surprised but I was floored.”
Mel said that she hadn’t expected to tie the knot. She said: “I wasn’t a girl who grew up dreaming about her dress. I was always just focused on my career – I think even relationships took a backseat for me because I’ve been so driven to do what I love, which is performing.” She added: “I’d gotten to the point in my life where I just didn’t think it was going to be a part of my story.”
She said how Chris had a “very calming energy”, and described him as a “beautiful addition to mine and my daughter’s life.” She added: “Because, you know, I’m a single mum. My daughter is 17, and we’re pretty resilient the two of us, we’re a team. For anybody coming into our world… it was going to be tough, and he just fits perfectly. It’s a beautiful dynamic.”
Speaking to the magazine, Mel revealed it was in actual fact their SECOND wedding as they had a legal ceremony in her husband’s native Australia before the service in front of friends and family at the weekend.
Bandmate Victoria Beckham made her dress for both the legal ceremony in Australia, and the UK one. Victoria told the magazine: “She very casually told me she was leaving for Australia in two days and getting married. When I asked what she was wearing, she mentioned she had actually ordered one of my dresses but that it didn’t quite fit, and she didn’t have time to get it altered before leaving. I happened to have that exact dress in my own wardrobe and offered to lend it to her.”
Mel was the last Spice Girl to get married. Geri married Christian Horner in 2015, while Emma married Jade Jones in 2021. Mel B tied the knot with husband number three Rory McPhee last year, while Victoria married David Beckham in 1999.
Mel C has daughter Scarlett with property developer Thomas Starr, who was her partner for 10 years before they split in 2012. She also had a seven-year relationship with her former manager Joe Marshall, which ended in 2022.
