SPV Planned For Durgam Cheruvu Lakefront

HYDERABAD: A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), also called a Special Purpose Entity (SPE), will be constituted for the integrated development and rejuvenation of the Durgam Cheruvu lakefront, covering approximately 140 acres. This will be a separate project, and loans can also be availed for its rejuvenation following the formation of the SPV. The proposal was approved by the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) Standing Committee on Monday.

The Standing Committee also approved construction of the balance stretch of box drain from Trendz Junior to Vashinavi Pride Apartment, linking to the existing box drain under Kukatpally Zone, at an estimated cost of ₹5.95 crore. This project will be taken up under the Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP).

Other proposals approved included construction of the Gajularamaram Circle Office building at an estimated cost of ₹5.18 crore, and development of a model road from Hindu Muslim Graveyard to Allwyn Colony Circle Border at an estimated cost of ₹2.95 crore. Ratification of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with T‑Works Foundation for innovation, prototyping and technology‑led solutions to address municipal challenges was also cleared.

Rejuvenation and development of Chintal Kunta Lake, including desilting, embankment protection, water quality restoration and construction of a box drain at Narlakunta Lake, at an estimated cost of ₹21.59 crore, was another major proposal approved. Proposals relating to construction and demolition (C&D) waste management, biodiversity, municipal infrastructure, energy management and civic services were also passed. These included measures relating to the Jeedimetla C&D processing facility and reconstitution of Biodiversity Management Committees at the municipal level.

The Standing Committee of CMC was chaired by Special Chief Secretary for metropolitan area and urban development (HMDA limits) Jayesh Ranjan. CMC commissioner G. Srijana and others attended the meeting.
