A Legacy of Festival Triumphs
Starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR as revolutionaries, RRR has established a strong international presence since its theatrical release in 2022. The film, which also features Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt, earned acclaim from audiences and critics worldwide. Its impressive awards haul includes a historic Academy Award for Best Original Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’. It also won a Golden Globe Award in the same category and multiple Critics Choice Awards, marking significant milestones for Indian cinema on the global stage.
The film has also reached audiences across the world through screenings and special presentations, including in Japan and North America.
Expanding the Rajamouli Cinematic Universe
Varanasi and Baahubali: The Eternal War represent further expansions of large-scale storytelling associated with Rajamouli’s cinematic world. Varanasi, which also stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is scheduled to release in theatres on April 7, 2027. According to the makers, Sukumaran’s character, Kumbha, is the film’s most complex mind.
Meanwhile, Baahubali: The Eternal War expands the franchise that became a landmark in Indian commercial cinema. Directed by Ishan Shukla, the ambitious two-part animated 3D feature is a CG spin-off set within the Baahubali universe. It follows Prince Baahubali through an epic battle spanning 14 realms, bringing together elements of Indian mythology and large-scale animation.
