Strictly Come Dancing winner Stacey Dooley has opened up about her home life with Kevin Clifton, with whom she shares three-year-old daughter Minnie
Former Strictly Come Dancing star Stacey Dooley has revealed that she calls all the shots at the home she shares with partner Kevin Clifton and their three-year-old daughter, Minnie. During an appearance on The Romesh Ranganathan Show, the 39-year-old gushed about the couple’s “old beautiful” home in Liverpool.
Admitting that she feels “the business” in the property, Stacey said she is very particular about its style and the decisions made about it.
“You know when you go to view a house and you’re like, ‘There’s not a world where I’d be able to afford this’, but then you can, but only because I’m up North,” she shared.
“I love my house and I feel like I’m sort of really house proud, I love doing the house up and then it gets trashed and then I get the hump.”
She went on to reveal that she doesn’t want Kevin, a former Strictly Come Dancing professional, offering any opinions “whatsoever”, joking that the trait isn’t particularly healthy.
In response, the podcast host said: “Listen, you’re running a dictatorship,” to which Stacey echoed that she had “all the power”.
“I am so highly strung about the house, that’s actually not a nice trait but it is how it is,” she added.
The documentary maker met professional dancer Kevin when they competed together on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018.
After winning the Glitterball together, the pair confirmed their relationship a few months later. In 2023, they welcomed their first child, daughter Minnie.
Elsewhere, Stacey has previously shared further insights into their relationship. Shortly after welcoming Minnie into the world, she told The Sun that she had never placed huge importance on marriage.
“Marriage has never been massively important to me,” she shared. Referencing Kevin’s past marriages, she added: “Also, it’s well documented that Kev’s done it a couple of times before.
“So, you do have to bear that in mind, coming down the aisle like, ‘Hello everyone, I know what you’re all thinking.’ It’s just never been something I’ve dreamt about,” she continued.
However, she has praised Kevin as a dad, saying that having their daughter has only made her love him more.
“I don’t want to sound too gushing or soppy, but I couldn’t have done this without Kev,” she said. “I couldn’t have done this with anyone else.”
Kevin was previously married to professional dancer Clare Craze from 2007 to 2013, before marrying Strictly’s Karen Hauer, who left the show last year. It is also believed that he married Latin world champion Anna Melnikova when he was just 20 years old in 2003.
