For those unaware, Tom was known for his extensive vocal work in the Star Wars franchise and the animated series, Powerpuff Girls. According to reports, Tom was 64 years old at the time of his passing.

According to a report by TMZ, a representative for Tom Kane, Zach McGinnis, revealed that he died on Monday, May 18, 2026. Zach revealed that Tom breathed his last at a hospital in Kansas City and was surrounded by his family in his last moments. He stated that even though Tom’s voice has now gone silent, the characters, stories, and love that he gave to the world will live on for eternity. He added:
“But beyond the incredible career was an extraordinary man. Tom was a devoted husband and father who, alongside his wife, built a loving family of nine children — three biological and six welcomed through adoption and fostering.”

Tom Kane’s talent agency, Galactic Productions, revealed the tragic news of Tom Kane’s passing on May 18, 2026, via a Facebook post. According to TMZ, Tom’s cause of death was complications from his 2020 stroke, also revealed by his representative. In the long note penned by his agency, they noted how Tom brought wisdom, strength, humour, and heart to every role that he has taken on. According to them, compassion and generosity defined the person that Tom Kane was. The statement can be read as:
“Today we say goodbye to Tom Kane — a legendary voice actor whose work shaped the childhoods and imaginations of millions around the world. From his unforgettable performances in Star Wars to countless animated series, documentaries, and games, Tom brought wisdom, strength, humor, and heart to every role he touched. His voice became part of our lives, our memories, and the stories we carry with us… That compassion and generosity defined who he was just as much as his remarkable talent did. Though his voice may now be silent, the characters, stories, and love he gave to the world will live on forever. Rest in peace, Tom Kane. Thank you for everything. May the Force be with you, always.”

More about Tom Kane
According to reports, Tom Kane was a native of Kansas City, Missouri. He began his professional voice acting career when he was only 15 years old. Eventually, he went on to build a multi-decade portfolio across television, radio, and even video games. For the uninitiated, in late 2020, Tom Kane reportedly suffered a stroke that severely impacted his speech and movement, so much so that he had to ultimately retire from the industry.

While Tom Kane was still active as a voice actor, he became recognised worldwide for his versatility in animation and live-screen announcements. This included serving as the narrator as well as voicing ‘Yoda,’ ‘Admiral Yularen,’ and medical droids in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Before retiring, Tom Kane narrated the premiere of The Bad Batch and provided the opening wartime newsreel-style narration for the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series.

Some of Tom Kane’s most notable animated credits included characters like ‘Professor Utonium’ and ‘HIM’ on The Powerpuff Girls, ‘Mr. Herriman’ on Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, ‘Darwin’ in The Wild Thornberrys, and ‘Magento’ in Wolverine and the X-Men.
