Kakinada:Tourism and Cinematography minister Kandula Durgesh on Saturday said the state government’s priority was to conduct the upcoming Godavari Pushkaralu in a pollution-free manner.

Along with East Godavari district collector Keerthi Chekuri, joint collector Y. Megha Swaroop, SP D. Narasimha Kishore and Rajamahendravaram Municipal Commissioner Rahul Meena, the minister inspected arrangements for Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s visit to Pushkar Ghat on May 25.

Durgesh said Pawan Kalyan would focus on pollution control measures in the Godavari river basin and review preparations for the Pushkaralu.

He said the Deputy Chief Minister would inspect the river stretch from Pushkar Ghat to Kotilingalu by boat and also review the condition of Nalla Channel and measures required to make the area pollution-free.

Durgesh expressed concern over increasing pollution in the Godavari despite its religious significance and said systematic measures taken now would help conduct the Pushkaralu in a clean and hygienic environment.

He urged officials to coordinate with public representatives and prepare an action plan for successful conduct of pollution-free Pushkaralu.
