Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers sends strong message about DK Metcalf after early struggles

DK Metcalf’s performance in the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ regular season opener was concerning, to say the least. Dropped balls, unnecessary offensive pass interference penalties, and miscommunication from Metcalf left fans scratching their heads throughout the matchup. But Aaron Rodgers is far from worried about his star wide receiver.

When Rodgers was asked by reporters if he’d need to work with Metcalf on anything extra after the Week 1 connection appeared to be off, the veteran quarterback defended Metcalf and claimed he’d keep feeding him in the receiving game.

“I’m not worried about DK at all, man,” Rodgers said. “I love DK. He’s one of my closest friends on the team, and I’m going to keep feeding him.”

Metcalf, despite his struggles, also drew a few defensive pass interference penalties that should’ve been called by officials, but the near-penalties unfortunately went unnoticed. If those penalties were called or Metcalf wasn’t impeded from catching some of those huge plays, there might have been a different, more positive narrative surrounding the receiver after the game.

Rodgers has the perfect opportunity to show everyone that his connection with Metcalf is right where it needs to be during the Week 2 matchup against the New England Patriots, as there should be plenty of opportunities for big plays with Michael Pittman Jr. set to miss.
