Travis Kelce put in another huge performance as the Kansas City Chiefs improved to a 2-0 record with a win against the Indianapolis Colts.

The tight end had his first 100-yard game in the regular season since 2024, recording 101 yards on nine catches to go along with a touchdown.
It would be harsh to say Kelce was abysmal last year, but his production did drop considerably. Now that he is once again playing close to his best, Patrick Mahomes’ answer might shed some light on why that is.

Mahomes’ return to the field could be argued as the biggest reason that Kelce looks so locked in again. But there is certainly more to it than that.

A standout performer from the Chiefs’ first two wins has been new running back Kenneth Walker III. Asked about Kelce after the game, it’s Walker who Mahomes pointed to as one of the factors, among others.
“He’s just still doing it,” Mahomes said about Kelce. “He knows how to get open and he can make guys miss. So for him to go out there and make the plays that he made in the big moments of the game…
“That’s who he’s always been. I think, just as much as it’s kind of cleaned up the game for me, I think having Kenneth and the way he runs the ball gets him into these matchups that he’s going to win. He showed that today.”

The Chiefs look locked in offensively to start the new season, which should send warning signals to the rest of the NFL. If they start clicking on both ends, the team could become a juggernaut once again.
