Steven Borden, the son of the legendary Sting, injured himself during his debut on an AEW pay-per-view.
Borden, 34, went for a dual coast-to-coast with Kevin Knight during their tag team match at AEW All Out at NOW Arena in Chicago on Saturday night. Borden landed hard on his head in the ring — appearing to knock himself out from the whiplash — as he was not moving.
AEW doctors stopped the match and awarded the win and the No. 1 contendership to the World Tag Team championship to Knight and Kyle Fletcher.
The broadcast stopped showing Borden. After a long silence in the arena, we saw and heard clapping from fans and were told by the commentary team that Borden left the ring.
Borden appeared to jump before Knight in a potential miscommunication, throwing things out of sync. Knight’s hand appeared to clip his opponent’s head on the way down.
Announcer Tony Schiavone provided an update on Borden later in the broadcast, straight from AEW president Tony Khan, to the fans in the arena.
“Steven Borden did arrive at the hospital. He is conscious. He is responsive,” Schiavone said. “He’s been talking to doctors about the match and of course our thoughts are with him. He has had a CAT scan. But the good news is he’s responsive, he’s conscious, he’s talking about the match he’s in tune about what happened.”
Borden started training in early 2024 with current partner Darby Allin after his iconic father retired in AEW. Steven Borden was part of Sting’s entrance for his final match
He made his pro wrestling debut in Oct. 2025 before having his first televised AEW match earlier this month. Borden had 35 matches coming into Saturday.
