Storage Wars star Darrell Sheets died last month at the age of 67. His sudden death was ruled as suicide and police are now said to be analysing his phone.
On Tuesday, after the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office in Arizona confirmed his cause of death as being by a t self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Authorities are said to be looking into at his phone following claims of cyberbullying.
A police statement said: “The Lake Havasu City Police Department has received confirmation from the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office that the manner of death in the investigation involving Darrell Sheets has been ruled a suicide, pending the completion of toxicology results.”
The statement, obtained by Us Weekly, went on: “Our agency continues to actively investigate allegations of cyberbullying associated with this case. The Criminal Investigations Unit has submitted Darrell Sheets’ cellular phone for forensic analysis and is currently awaiting the results.”
Police also said: “This investigative step is essential to advancing the case.” Officers had responded to a report of a deceased person at his home in last month. Sadly, Sheets was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Lake Havasu Police Department in Arizona said at the time: “On April 22, 2026, at approximately 0200 hours, officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of Chandler Drive in reference to a reported deceased individual.
“Upon arrival, officers located a male subject who suffered from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The male was pronounced deceased on scene and the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit was notified and responded to the scene to assume the investigation.”
It continued: “The body was ultimately turned over to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office for further investigation. The male subject has been identified as Darrell Sheets, a 67-year-old resident of Lake Havasu City and Darrell’s family has been notified.”
The reality TV star was a favourite on long-running series Storage Wars. He had earned the nickname “The Gambler” for his often risky purchases. He remained a popular with viewers thanks to his big gambles on the popular US TV show.
The A&E star had played a part in the main cast of the show for 13 years between 2010 to 2023. Following his death, fans of the show took to social media to share messages of condolence.
One user on Twitter/X wrote: “RIP to Darrell Sheets from storage wars. We will be taking a long moment of silence due to Daryl’s passing! This is very sad to find out. Please if you’re suffering from suicidal thoughts, reach out to somebody!”
