Former Strictly Come Dancing professionals James and Ola Jordan have begun a “trial separation” and remain focused on co-parenting their daughter, according to their manager

In news nobody saw coming from what had appeared to be a tight-knit couple, James Jordan and Ola Jordan announced their shock split after almost 23 years of marriage this week. The pair rose to fame on Strictly Come Dancing, which has often been associated with the so-called ‘Strictly curse’ over the years.

The term refers to individuals taking part in the show who are already in relationships and go on to find romance with fellow participants.

Both James and Ola avoided the curse during their time on the show, proving they only had eyes for each other.

Last year, however, the pair appeared to be taken aback when Vanessa Feltz hilariously confessed her true feelings for James when they joined her on her Channel 5 show.

Discussing her partnership with the professional dancer, Vanessa admitted to falling “passionately in love” with him.

Looking at him, she teased: “You don’t know what I am going to say, do you? Look at him he’s looking like he doesn’t know what I am going to say,” before plucking up the courage to admit: “For an insane 24 to 48 hours I fell passionately in love with him.”

She went on to say: “I had a partner at the time and I was happy in my relationship, ish. But I fell passionately in love with him.”

Recalling meeting Ola for the first time, she added: “Then I remember you coming in to show me how steps should be done and then I kind of woke up thinking this is ridiculous but there is something intoxicating.”

Seemingly taken aback by her admission, James asked: Did you fall in love with me?”, to which the host responded: “I did, for about 48 hours.”

“Only 48 hours, but I did though and I remember you came to do my radio show at the BBC and I remember you walked out and my heart was going and I was 50 and I was about to be a grandmother.”

James and Vanessa’s time together on the show in 2013 was short-lived, with the presenter voted out in the second week.

At the time, she told the hosts: “I will miss everything, especially James and dancing, the glamour, the sequins and the fun of it all. Thank you very much indeed for having me, it’s been a lovely time.”

James and Ola got together in 1999 before going on to tie the knot in 2003. In 2020, they welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Ella.

Announcing their split in a statement issued by the pair’s manager and friend, Vickie White, she told The Sun: “It is with great sadness that I can confirm that James and Ola began a trial separation some time ago.

“Their shared priority remains co-parenting their daughter, Ella, and they are committed to putting her wellbeing first.

“They would greatly appreciate your understanding as they navigate this difficult time.”
