EXCLUSIVE: Jamie Winstone is opening up on her Strictly Come Dancing journey, including famous friends that are supporting her along the way despite being in the bottom two, twice

Strictly Come Dancing’s Jaime Winstone has revealed she has some serious celeb backing with Taylor Swift among the stars in her corner.

The actress, 41, who is partnered with Carlos Gu, said the Blank Space and Shake It Off singer heaped praise on her natural dancing ability before she’d even been announced for the show.

Jamie, the middle child of Gentlemen star Ray Winstone and Elaine McCausland’s three daughters, has also had messages from supermodel Cara Delevingne, 34, and Kelly Osbourne, 42.

Speaking about her paso doble to Let’s Dance on Icons Week, she said: “Cara Delevigne is just completely taken away with my and Carlos’ performance for Bowie.

“There were signs beforehand, before I even chose to do Strictly, the likes of Taylor Swift saying: ‘Oh my God, how do you dance like that? You dance so free.’ I was like: ‘Does she know I’m doing Strictly?'”

It came after the singer spotted her on the dance floor at model Poppy Delevingne’s 40th birthday party in London in May when she turned up with now-husband Travis Kelce, 37.

Jamie also revealed that Kelly – daughter of former X Factor judge Sharon and late singer Ozzy – has been keeping an eye on her progress.

She said: “I’ve got Kelly Osbourne behind me too and I’m like this is the best version of myself that she’s seen.”

The actress admitted receiving positive reactions has been particularly special as she navigates the pressures of competing on live television.

However, she is also learning to block out the noise and remember that Strictly is her own experience, rather than something she needs to justify to everyone watching.

She said: “There’s a lot of really healthy feedback, but then suddenly everybody does have an opinion. You need to just turn that off sometimes because it is your experience at the end of the day. I want to do a good job.”

Last night (Sat) we saw her and Carlos dance a Salsa to the song Filthy/Gorgeous by Scissor Sisters for the long-anticipated Halloween show.

Jaime first found herself in the dance-off during Movie Week in the second live show and was dumped in it again just last week when she and Carlos faced former footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips and Alexis Warr.

Despite scoring 25 points for their Foxtrot, Jaime and Carlos were saved again, with Anton Du Beke casting the deciding vote.

She admitted: “Yeah, it’s been hard. Mondays anyway are quite brutal aren’t they?” as she looked at Carlos. “It’s because you’re learning something new, you’re picking up, you’re taking in so much information.”

Jaime continued: “However, this Monday was particularly difficult. I was feeling quite mentally and physically drained, you know, it’s definitely new for me, this side to being judged.”

However despite the knocks, he insisted: “I really want to be here.”

Strictly Come Dancing: The Results is at 7.10pm on BBC One on Sunday.
