The final round of the 2026 Butterfield Bermuda Championship has been canceled due to inclement weather, the PGA Tour announced Sunday evening. The PGA Tour initially canceled all play on Sunday because of high winds and hoped to play the final round on Monday, but the forecast will not allow that.
Austin Smotherman and Seamus Power, who are tied at 16 under par, will have a sudden-death playoff on Monday morning to determine the winner. The playoff is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. ET, weather permitting.
Smotherman is looking for his second win of the FedEx Cup Fall season. He won his first PGA Tour event at the Bank of Utah Championship a few weeks ago. Power is a two-time PGA Tour winner, whose last win came in Bermuda in 2022.
With one round remaining, play was scheduled to begin early on Sunday morning with threesomes going off of split tees starting at 6:45 a.m. ET, despite a forecast of steady rain showers and wind.
But as the start time drew near on Sunday, tee times were first postponed by one hour to a 7:45 a.m. ET start, with the leaders in the final group scheduled to go off at 9:46 a.m. ET. But shortly after that update, the Tour called off the day’s play due to diminishing conditions and extremely high winds.
BUTTERFIELD BERMUDA CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE: With no improvement to the current weather conditions and anticipated further deterioration, there will be no play today.
More information regarding play on Monday will be provided no later than 5:00 PM local time today. https://t.co/pRUH8DY0Ze

The PGA Tour hoped to find a promising hole in the weather forecast. Unfortunately, the unfavorable forecast will not allow that, so only two golfers will tee off on Monday to determine a winner. The rest will either head home or to Mexico for next week’s VidantaWorld Mexico Open.
