Many fans were unsure what would happen to the show, but the answer came quickly. In a short new episode, both confirmed that the podcast will not continue for long.

Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe spoke directly to listeners in a brief episode of A Touch More. They said the decision to break up was made together and was not easy. At the same time, they made it clear that their podcast will slowly come to an end. Rapinoe shared that they had taken a lot of time to think about this decision together, and while things will change, they still plan to support each other and stay connected with their audience in a different way. She expressed by saying:

“We truly are evolving into something new to each other, to ourselves and to all of you, and we just wanted to say thank you for sharing this space with us and giving us this space for us to find ourselves in a different way through this podcast.” 

Then Bird explained what comes next. She said they will release six more episodes as a way to close this chapter. She called it a “farewell” to their listeners and to the space they built together. So, instead of stopping suddenly, they chose to end it in a calm and planned way. This update came just after their joint social media post, where they shared the news of their breakup. That post did not give many details, but both made it clear that they still respect each other.

Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird’s future plans after the split

After closing, A Touch More, both are moving forward with their own work. Megan Rapinoe is planning to start a new podcast on her own. Sue Bird, on the other hand, will continue her show, Bird’s Eye View, and is working on its second season. Their story goes back many years. They first met during a photoshoot around the time of the 2016 Rio Olympics. At that time, both were already stars in their sports.

Rapinoe was leading the United States women’s soccer team, while Bird was a key player for the Seattle Storm in the WNBA. They started dating soon after, but kept things private at first. In 2017, they made their relationship public. Over time, they became one of the most well-known couples in sports.

In October 2020, Megan Rapinoe proposed to Sue Bird. This happened shortly after Bird won her fourth WNBA title. Even though they got engaged, they never got married. “Megan and I would have conversations about it, and she opened my eyes to another way of looking at it, which is that in today’s time, in today’s society, it’s still important to kind of say it to make it the norm.” 

Even though their relationship has ended, both made it clear that they will still support each other. Their journey together included big wins, too. Between them, they have six Olympic gold medals. Sue Bird has five, and Megan Rapinoe has one, along with a bronze medal from the Tokyo 2020 Games. Now, as they move into a new phase, both are choosing to focus on their own paths while ending their shared podcast in a thoughtful way.
