Warangal:The absence of endowments minister Konda Surekha from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s tour of the erstwhile Warangal district has triggered speculation within Congress circles, particularly over the political future of her daughter and the Parkal Assembly constituency. Surekha was missing during the Chief Minister’s visit to Medaram, the programmes in Mulugu and the public meeting there. She was also absent at the Parkal public meeting, the final major event of Revanth Reddy’s tour.
The development has drawn attention as Surekha and her husband, former minister Konda Murali, have already indicated that their daughter Susmitha could contest the next Assembly elections from Parkal and are reportedly making preparations. Political circles now speculate that the Chief Minister may be inclined to support Parkal MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy for the constituency. Prakash Reddy has also reportedly expressed confidence about retaining the seat.
Adding to the speculation, Revanth Reddy, while addressing the Parkal meeting, appealed to the people to bless Prakash Reddy in the next elections. His remarks have triggered renewed discussion within the local Congress unit over the Konda family’s political plans and the future of Parkal. Whether the apparent differences remain confined to the constituency or develop into a larger internal dispute within the Congress remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s praise for several sitting MLAs during his address has also fuelled speculation over their prospects in the next Assembly elections. His remarks were interpreted by some party circles as an indication of continued support for Narsampet MLA Donti Madhava Reddy, Palakurthi MLA Yashaswini Reddy and Hanamkonda MLA Nayini Rajender Reddy.
No formal announcement regarding candidate selection for the next Assembly elections has been made.
