Tamil star Suriya, who is basking in the success of hits like Karuppu, seems to be on a new mission these days — imparting life lessons to students. At the 47th anniversary celebrations of his father and veteran actor Sivakumar’s Sivakumar Educational Trust, he once again shared a few words of advice.

Addressing the growing habit of excessive Instagram Reels consumption, Suriya advised students to spend more time watching podcasts and conducting in-depth online research to understand subjects better, rather than simply skimming through short-form content. “If you keep watching Reels, you are only watching a story. You may not learn anything from it,” Suriya said at the event.

He encouraged students to watch long-form podcasts and learn from the real-life journeys of successful personalities. Suriya also compared life to the process of filmmaking while delivering his motivational speech. “The director never says, ‘You have failed.’ Instead, he says, ‘One more.’ I look at life like a director. Life never tells you that you have failed. You may think so, but life is not like that,” he said.

Drawing a parallel with shooting multiple takes of the same scene, Suriya said failure should not be treated as the end, but as another opportunity to try again. On the work front, Suriya made his Tollywood debut with Vishwanath And Son’s, showcasing his acting prowess as a bachelor who dislikes marriage.
