Jaime has been married to Erik Huffman, but the couple parted ways after an ugly divorce battle. FBI is investigating the matter and the details of both mother and son. In an interview with the Daily Mail, the father revealed that their son’s safety and wellbeing are his top priority right now, and getting him back is important.
The father revealed that he had developed a good relationship with his son and set up a routine for him with school, therapists, tutors and church groups. He was trying to live his life. The case has sparked a lot of concern in South Carolina and on social media. On September 21, 2026, the Spartanburg County Family Court Judge M. Todd Thigpen found Jaime in direct contempt after she failed to return their son to his father.
The judge called Harper ‘missing and endangered’. The judge asked for Jaime’s immediate arrest and authorised law enforcement across South Carolina. The father revealed that he is worried about his son’s safety and said:
“I do fear for his safety. Throughout my separation and divorce, I’ve desired for Harper to have a relationship with his mother. I truly am concerned about her mental stability and his safety. I feel like I’ve been working night and day on this. I’ve made it my own investigation to try to get answers, driving across South Carolina, speaking to various law enforcement. It’s been a logistical nightmare. It’s been stressful, and it’s been tough. I’m very worried about my son.”
For the unversed, the former couple, Jaime Dugan and Erik Huffman, met as contestants on Survivor: China in 2007. They started dating after the show, got married in 2009, and in 2010, the two welcomed their first child, Harper. Jaime rose to fame as an online influencer with more than 70,000 followers on Instagram, while her ex-husband, Eric, went on to be a doctor’s assistant.
However, their breakup in 2024 turned into an ugly public battle after allegations of physical and sexual abuse were levied, which have not yet been proven true. Eric was given custody of their son, as the judge found she failed or refused to take custody. During the September 15, 2026, court hearing, Jaime appeared virtually, but she wasn’t given permission to do so.
When the judge asked her to reveal her whereabouts, she refused to do so. The judge adjourned the hearing and ordered her to appear in person, but she refused to appear. Her lawyer, Jonathan Lewis, who represents Jaime during her divorce hearings, stated that she is considered innocent until she is proven guilty of a criminal offence. She said:
“Ms Dugan is considered innocent if or until she is proven guilty of a criminal offence, or liable for a civil offence, following proper proceedings in a court of law. I join in praying for Harper’s safe return and that this matter will quickly and decisively resolve itself in the best interests of Harper.”
