Britain’s Got Talent legend Susan Boyle has cancelled a gig that was meant to take place in the US after her manager underwent dental work and was advised not to fly
Susan Boyle has cancelled a US gig after her manager was warned not to fly. The singer, 65, who is in the middle of a much-discussed career resurgence, had been due to perform at the David Yarrow Foundation event on Friday 12th June alongside a host of other Scottish talent ahead of her home country’s appearance in the World Cup.
But on Monday morning, the star, who shot to fame when she performed I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, took to social media to announce to her fans she could no longer travel to the event because her manager had just undergone emergency dental work.
She wrote on Facebook: “I’m so sorry to say that I will no longer be travelling to Boston for the David Yarrow Foundation event. Due to unforeseen circumstances following a dental procedure, my manager has been advised not to fly, which sadly means we’re unable to make the journey.
“I was really looking forward to being there and supporting such a wonderful cause, and I’m so sorry for any disappointment this may cause. Sending my love and best wishes to everyone involved for a very special evening. Susan x”
Fans were left a little bit confused in the comments section and wondered why she could not travel to the gig by herself. One fan wrote: “Have I read it wrong isn’t it the manager that can’t go,” whilst another said: “Leave your manager recovering, we’ll all come with you…we can manage you!”
A third wrote: “Ummmm the manager had the dental work, not you,” but a fourth one said: “Prayers for your manager’s health to be restored.”
The David Yarrow Foundation was set up by the family of the fine arts photographer and aims to raise funds for cancer care research and the creative arts in Scotland. At the event, which was named One More Party, Susan had received top billing. Also due to perform are Skerryvore, Nathan Evans & the Saint Phnx BandJohnny Mac & The Faithful.
It comes just days after Susan shocked fans with a sudden social media reapparance where she rocked a blonde bob, faux fur coat, and brown velour tracksuit last week as she got behind the mic again.
However, those hoping for a new album from the singer may be disappointed to learn that the star’s relaunch back into the public eye is only as the face of a new ice cream ad campaign.
A post on Susan’s Instagram revealed that the star had teamed up with Cornetto to sing a dance-heavy reimagining of the ice cream brand’s ad jingle, titled Just One Cornetto (reMAXed).
Speaking about her foray into the world of jingles, she said: “I was nervous going back into the recording studio, aye. I hadn’t sung for ages. But when I was there, I felt as though it was where I belonged. I missed it so much.”
Responding to her striking new look, a whole host of famous faces posted messages on Susan’s Instagram page. Roar singer Katy Perry mused: “I dreamt this dream” while PinkPantheress singer typed: “Okayyy.”
