Susan Boyle has wowed her fans with a glamorous makeover after sharing a series of snaps while visiting New York City, with the Britain’s Got Talent star marking an exciting ‘new era’
Susan Boyle showcased her glamorous transformation this week as she took time out of her schedule to spend time sightseeing in New York. The 65-year-old’s appearance today is worlds away from her first-ever TV appearance – on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009 en route to winning the series.
Capping an incredible week, SuBo reflected on her return to the stage after a seven-year absence yesterday (October 21) as she revealed she’s been nominated for a prestigious award.
“Well, I never thought I’d see my name alongside Calvin Harris and The Cure!” she admitted in an Instagram post. Susan continued: “I’m absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for Festival Performance of the Year at the UK Festival Awards.
“What an honour! Performing at Summer’s End Angus was such a special day for me. It was a dream being back on stage, and I’ll never forget that welcome. You certainly know how to make a girl feel loved!”
A day earlier, the proud Scot shared a series of snaps from the Big Apple. Her signature grey curls that she displayed before Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan are now long gone – replaced by blonde shoulder-length tresses.
The singer has revolutionised her style as well, ditching dated frocks for a body warmer, fitted leggings and rose-tinted sunglasses in NYC.
“It’s so lovely to be back in America!” Susan announced on Instagram on Tuesday.
She continued: “New York is beautiful at this time of year, and I’ve been enjoying the sights. Getting to catch up with some of you has made it all the more special.”
Susan posted snaps from the Empire Building, alongside additional pictures taken across the Hudson River in Hoboken, New Jersey.
The new pictures follow Susan’s announcement of a “new era” earlier this year, confirming plans to resume her musical career following a seven-year break.
The BGT legend has also undergone something of a reinvention as an influencer, introducing her own merchandise line featuring self-branded apparel and accessories.
“Love you Susan, you’re an inspiration,” one fan responded. A second person gushed: “Susan! Let me take you to lunch next time you’re in Hoboken!”
A third chimed in: “Hope you are having fun here in NYC!” While a fourth commented: “Welcome back! Love and missed you. You look fabulous.”
Meanwhile, a brand-new BBC documentary celebrating Susan’s remarkable life and career is set to air on Hogmanay over the festive period.
Commissioned by BBC Popular Music TV and BBC Scotland, There’s Only One Susan Boyle will broadcast on BBC One Scotland and on iPlayer on December 31, 2026.
The 45-minute film from Tern TV will chart the Blackburn star’s extraordinary journey, featuring an exclusive interview with Susan herself, as well as contributions from close friends, collaborators, and devoted fans.
Heather Kane-Darling, Commissioning Editor, BBC Scotland, said: “Susan Boyle’s story is one of the most remarkable and uplifting to come out of Scotland in recent decades.
“From a small town in West Lothian to stages around the world, her journey has inspired millions. This warm, honest and entertaining portrait of a truly unique Scottish talent will be a festive treat for our audiences.”
