Hyderabad: The Ameenpur police registered a case against the suspended Jubilee Hills Inspector U Srinivasulu Reddy on charges of raping and forcing a woman to abort.
Based on her complaint, the police booked a case against Srinivasulu Reddy and recorded her statement. When the woman came to lodge a complaint against her husband in 2021, Srinivasulu Reddy developed friendship with her and raped her. The Inspector then forced her to abort.
The Ameenpur police confirmed that a rape case was booked against Srinivasulu Reddy and added that as of now, the investigation is on.
A few days ago, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar had placed Srinivasulu Reddy under suspension when he was Station House Officer (SHO) of Jubilee Hills police station, following allegations of serious misconduct involving a woman complainant.
The suspension follows a preliminary departmental inquiry into the allegations. Based on its findings, the Commissioner ordered the SHO’s suspension and directed that a detailed departmental inquiry be conducted.
