Vijayawada: Renewable energy major Suzlon has secured a 201.6 MW wind energy project of Waaree Forever Energies being implemented in Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant addition to the state’s expanding clean energy portfolio.
Announcing the development on Thursday, Suzlon said the project would be executed under the DevCo (Development Company) model, which offers end-to-end project execution. DevCo is being increasingly preferred for large-scale renewable energy projects due to its ability to speed up implementation, minimise development risks, and improve scalability.
Waaree Forever Energies is the independent power producer (IPP) arm of the Waaree Group. The Suzlon project is the group’s maiden wind energy venture in Andhra Pradesh.
As part of the project, Suzlon will install 64 units of its flagship S144 wind turbine generators, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. The company will extend a comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package, including land acquisition, turbine supply, balance of plant (BoP), commissioning, and lifetime operations and maintenance services.
Suzlon Group vice chairman Girish Tanti said the partnership in AP is strategically significant, as it brings together two companies that have played pioneering roles in India’s renewable energy sector.
Tanti pointed out that Waaree and Suzlon have emerged leaders in solar and wind energy respectively with a strong global presence.
