The Giallorossi have not lost in Serie A since April 5 and aim to extend their unbeaten run next weekend. Can they break a Roman record this season?
A 5-2 loss to Inter in April was the last time AS Roma tasted defeat in Italy. Since then, Gasperini’s boys have gone unbeaten in seventeen games, winning thirteen and drawing four. That’s 43 points out of a possible 51. Now, I’m no math professor, but that’s a damn good score. Even those draws came against tough opponents: Atalanta, Inter, Como, and Napoli. The days when Roma stumbled against Pisa, Cagliari, Parma, or Lecce are long gone. Gasperini has built a machine and made them a force to be reckoned with.

What’s even more impressive is the number of goals scored in that same time frame: 45 in 17 games. Malen, of course, is the biggest contributor, but the danger comes from everywhere: Cristante, Ndicka, Mancini, Koné, Hermoso, Rensch, Wesley, Mora, Lulli, Castro, Pisilli; young or old, defender, wingback, or midfielder. Left or right side. Not a single outfield position went without scoring in those 17 games.
Kudos to Gasperini, of course. There’s been a big change in mentality, and we’re finally seeing the fluid ‘Gaspball’ we all wanted. This group seems truly united and never gives up. The only downside so far is those pesky second-half goals Roma always concede around the 45′-50′ mark. Then again, who cares about a clean sheet when you always score two or three more goals than your opponent? Give the people some entertainment (cue Russell Crowe screaming at the Colosseo).
People also love records. Gasperini has already surpassed Rudi Garcia’s 16-game unbeaten run from 2014-2015. Next up is the 19-game record, set by three Roma teams: 1984 (Eriksson and Liedholm), 2013 (Andreazzoli and Garcia), and 2024-2025 (Ranieri). The best result? Liedholm’s 1980-1981 team, which went 30 games without a loss. Can Gasperini really make history this season?
But first things first: surpassing that 19-game unbeaten run looks achievable. The Giallorossi have a couple of winnable games (Sassuolo, Parma, Monza) coming up before the December 13 derby, which is shaping up to be a true Scudetto clash. Who would’ve predicted that in August?

To end, here’s a little curiosity from Roma’s previous four games: two goals vs Genoa, three vs Napoli, four vs Cagliari, and last weekend, five against Udinese. Anybody want to bet on a 6-0 win vs Sassuolo this weekend?
