Taapsee Pannu has never been one to turn her personal life into a press event, and she’s now explained exactly why. Speaking candidly, the actress addressed why there was no formal announcement, no curated photo deck and no glossy press note when she married former Danish badminton player Mathias Boe.
Her answer was refreshingly direct. “Why should I have a public announcement? I’ve always kept my personal and professional lives apart. Not that I want to hide them, am scared or embarrassed of them. But I’ve refrained from making announcements. I think it’s personal, and I’d want to keep it like that. It feels very weird to put out a press note or a deck of photos and videos,” she said.
The couple, together for nearly a decade, reportedly married on March 23, 2024, in an intimate Udaipur ceremony that blended Sikh and Christian traditions. Close friends and family were present, including Pavail Gulati, Anurag Kashyap and Kanika Dhillon. The plan was to keep it entirely under wraps. It didn’t quite work out that way.
Videos from the celebrations eventually surfaced online, including a clip of Taapsee in a red bridal suit, walking down the aisle with her sister and friends. Guests had reportedly been asked not to post anything, which made the leak sting even more. Taapsee didn’t sugarcoat it, calling the episode “very embarrassing.”
She also had a theory about how it happened. “That happens with people who’re not invited by you, but by your family,” she said, suggesting some guests may not have taken the privacy request as seriously as those closest to the couple.
Part of her caution, she noted, is about Mathias too. As a sportsperson, he has kept a far lower profile when it comes to his personal life, and she’s keen to respect that.
