The Texans are welcoming Tank Dell back to the active roster as the receiver is set to make his return to NFL play against the Giants.
Dell has been sidelined since suffering a gruesome knee injury in Week 16 against the Chiefs in 2024. He was cleared for football activities during training camp in July.
The 2023 third-round selection of the Texans is no stranger to injuries, with a broken fibula ending his rookie season and the knee issue truncating his second.
In 25 career games, Dell has 98 receptions for 1,376 yards and 10 touchdowns. Now, his role, in theory, gets easier with the addition of Marvin Harrison Jr., bringing the former Cardinals first-rounder to an already loaded receiver room with Pro Bowler Nico Collins fully healthy and the emergence of second-year wideout Jaylin Noel.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud is adding another weapon in the middle of an impressive 2026 campaign. So far this season, Stroud has thrown for 1,714 yards — third in the NFL — with nine touchdowns and one interception through the first two months.
Houston is excited to have Dell back, and he already knows how he’s going to celebrate.
“I don’t care if the first catch is 2 yards, 5 yards — I’m spiking the ball and doing what I gotta do,” he told reporters earlier this week. “It’s gonna feel good. … I’m ready to get tackled. I’m gonna be joyful.”
Dell is slated for a limited role to start as he starts his emotional comeback.
