Tara Sutaria’s Helsa brought old-Hollywood glamour to Cannes 2026 in a black-and-white midi dress

Tara Sutaria’s Cannes debut did not need a floor-length train or a surface covered in crystals. Styled by Tanya Ghavri, she wore Helsa’s black-and-white Finale Midi Dress–a strapless midi built around a fitted bodice, full skirt and a lace-trimmed white underlayer.

The dress gets most of its effect from contrast: the black bodice is edged with white at the sweetheart neckline, while the cinched waist opens into a tea-length skirt. At the hem, lace peeks out beneath the black outer layer, giving the dress a 1950s shape without making the styling feel like a costume.

Ghavri styled it with black patent pointed pumps by Jimmy Choo, YSL sunglasses and vintage drop earrings from Viange. The accessories stayed within the black-and-white palette, with the earrings adding to the old-Hollywood glamour aesthetic of the ensemble.

Meera Sakhrani kept the makeup classic for Cannes, with luminous skin, a deep berry lip and shaded eyes. Aamir Naveed styled Sutaria’s hair in side-parted waves with volume through the crown, giving the look its clearest old-Hollywood cue.

From Vogue’s fashion desk:

“The dress is the entire outfit, either do an animal print sunglasses or an even sleeker cat eye for that full bond-girl effect. Finish with red lips.” says Manglien Gangte, Vogue India fashion associate.
