Back in 2019, the star received her first two Grammy nominations, but while most people would be celebrating, Bebe faced heartache. She later claimed that, on January 21 of that year, high-end fashion houses had refused to dress her because she was more than a size eight.
Despite this, the New York-born songstress dazzled in a red Monsoori gown on the red carpet when she arrived at the awards ceremony. Now, Bebe has revealed how Taylor, 36, secretly came to her rescue and offered support.
Speaking to E! News at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, Bebe said: “I remember when I had the whole Grammys situation, and I couldn’t find a dress, and she had reached out to me because we’re the same age.
“And I thought that was really, really, really kind of her. Like nobody really reached out – like some people did, you know – but for her at such a high level to like kind of make me feel like I belonged was really, really nice.”
While attending the Grammys in 2019, Bebe was asked about the controversy on the red carpet. “Yo, you wish you could’ve dressed my fat a*s,” she said. At the time, reflecting on the messages of support she received, she said: “It’s been amazing. I didn’t expect it. I just did the video because I was really heartbroken and it bummed me.
“They said I was too big or fat and I love my body and I just want other girls to love their bodies.” Speaking about the incident on social media, Bebe told her fans: “I’m I had to get this off my chest. If you don’t like my fashion style or my music that’s one thing. But don’t say you can’t dress someone that isn’t a runway size.
“Empower women to love their bodies instead of making girls and women feel less then by their size. We are beautiful any size! Small or large! Anddddd My size 8 ass is still going to the Grammys. #LOVEYOURBODY.”
In a video, she said: “So I finally get nominated at the Grammys and it’s like the coolest thing ever. And a lot of times artists will go and talk to designers and they will make them custom dresses to walk the red carpet right, like you go to any big designer.”
“So I had my team hit out a lot of designers and a lot of them do not want to dress me because I’m too big”. After pausing and rolling her eyes, she continued: “Literally I am too big, and like if a size six/eight is too big then I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t want to wear you’re f****** dresses”
“Because that’s crazy! You are saying that all the women in the world who are size eight and up are not beautiful and they cannot wear your dresses. So to all the people that say I’m too thic [big] and can’t wear you’re dresses, f*** I don’t want to wear you’re f****** dress”.
