Nellore:The TD-led alliance won 32 of the 35 Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) seats in SPSR Nellore district for which results have been declared. The TD secured 30 seats, while its allies Jana Sena and BJP won one each. The YSRC won one seat, with counting continuing in the remaining two constituencies.

Counting for the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and ZPTC elections in SPSR Nellore and Prakasam districts produced mixed results, with the TD-led alliance maintaining an overall advantage and the YSRC winning several mandal-level contests. The process was largely peaceful, barring a few isolated incidents.

Of the 440 MPTC seats in SPSR Nellore district, 78 were won unanimously, while polling was held for the remaining 362 seats on November 5.

The TD benefited from the unanimous victories and is expected to secure a significant share of Mandal Parishad president posts, particularly in mandals where its candidates have obtained clear majorities.

However, the YSRC won nine of the 12 MPTC seats in Vinjamur mandal, while the TD secured the remaining three. The result places the YSRC in a strong position to secure the Mandal Parishad president post there.

The YSRC also put up a strong contest in Saidapuram and Muthukur, indicating that the alliance’s overall lead has not translated into a uniform victory across all mandals.

The final MPTC tally and control of Mandal Parishads will become clear after counting is completed and the presidents are elected.
