The Telugu Desam has lodged a complaint with the State Election Commission and IG Rajakumari over the alleged seizure of a ballot box by YSRC workers led by MLC Lella Appi Reddy during the parishad election at Vengalayapalem in Prathipadu mandal of Guntur district.

A TD delegation comprising MLC Varla Ramaiah and former minister Peethala Sujatha sought action against those allegedly disrupting the polling process.

Ramaiah accused YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of instigating violence out of fear of defeat. Citing a police remand report, he said 19 criminal cases had been pending against Appi Reddy since 2018 and demanded his detention under the Preventive Detention Act.

The TD submitted photographs purportedly showing a ballot box being taken onto the road and a polling officer being held by his shirt. It also submitted 82 complaints relating to alleged violations in 47 Assembly constituencies and 19 Lok Sabha segments, including 15 complaints from Pulivendula.

Ramaiah said an FIR had been registered against Jagan as accused No. 1 over alleged violations of the model code of conduct, including helicopter movements and a convoy of 15 vehicles.

He rejected YSRC claims that its agents had been barred from polling booths and urged the Election Commission to investigate the complaints and take action.
