Tension prevailed at the Nidadavole police station in East Godavari district on Sunday after a Telugu Desam worker posted a video alleging police harassment and threatening to end his life.

Katta Manikanta of Singavaram village released a video on social media claiming he was unable to bear alleged harassment by Nidadavole police. The video went viral, triggering protests by Telugu Desam leaders and cadres at the police station.

In the video, Manikanta addressed tourism minister Kandula Durgesh, stating that he was under severe distress and had been repeatedly called to the police station since April 26 without being informed of the case against him. Leaders including Peravali Water Distribution Society president Burugupalli Srinivas, Undrajavaram mandal Telugu Desam president Simhadri Ramakrishna, town president Kommina Venkateswara Rao and former councillors were present.
