Rio Ferdinand’s emotional reunion with his children and wife, Kate, after six weeks away for the World Cup has been shared online, melting the hearts of fans everywhere

Kate Ferdinand has shared the emotional reunion she and her children had with husband Rio after he spent six weeks away covering the World Cup.
The video, shared on Instagram, saw pundit Rio, 47, drive up to the home he shares with Kate, their children in Dubai.
The couple’s youngest children Cree and Shea race up to greet him while daughter Tia, from his prior relationship with Rebecca Ellison, who died in 2015, also arrives for a big family hug.
In moving scenes, the children could be heard shouting “Daddy!” as he arrived. Kate, 35, was then heard off screen shouting for Tia to make sure, the 15-year-old didn’t miss out on greeting her dad.
In the caption, Kate quoted one of her children, saying: “‘I’ve got my dad here.’ A very long six weeks without our @rioferdy5, we’ve all missed him so much. Couldn’t be happier to have him home.”
Over the top of the video, Kate added: “Together again after six weeks apart.” Fans quickly flooded the comments with messages about how much they loved the post. “This is so lovely,” said one fan.
Another said: “It’s Kate shouting for Tia making sure no one gets left out of cuddles” and added a wide eyed emoji. A third said: “Aww, think they missed daddy.”
This came after TOWIE star Kate posted about how much her family was missing Rio during the World Cup. She shared a series of family pictures and said: “Daddy’s been gone for four weeks, mummy’s trying to hold it together.”
She also shared a photo of a poster made by her children called “When is daddy home?” including a countdown to the end of the World Cup with daily stickers added to it. Kate said, “Nearly 4 weeks down, just over 2 to go!”
As well as Cree, Shea and Tia, Rio has two other children – sons called Lorenz and Tate. Like Tia, they are also the children of Rebecca, and tragically lost their mum to breast cancer 11 years ago.
Though Tia lives with her dad and step-mum in Dubai, Lorenz and Tate continued to live in the UK. Kate has said she gets on well with her stepchildren now, but there was a time when they did not get on. “As a stepparent setting rules, you are going to upset the stepkid if it’s not what they like,” she said on her podcast. “You’re going to upset any child, but for some reason it feels more personal when it’s a stepchild.”
She added that it was “near on impossible” the stay calm all the time and admitted that she had recently been clashing with stepdaughter Tia. Kate said they had been butting heads over her timekeeping and that she felt like she’d been having the same conversations “for eight years” and was “drained” now.
Kate continued to say that she told Tia: “We’ve done the nice nicey and I could lose it in the upcoming days.” She added: “And then when I lose it, everyone says, ‘What’s happened to Kate? She’s a psycho’ or ‘Kate’s mental.”
This comes after Tate previously appeared on Kate’s podcast and admitted that he tried to sabotage his father’s relationship with Kate. He said he told lies about Kate “meeting random men” and “locking” him and his siblings in a room after she moved in in 2018. He explained that this was out of “loyalty” to his mother.
He also admitted that he “hated” Kate at first. He said: “You just had a hater in the house. I used to be so jealous. Not jealous, I son’t even know the word, but I would try and like get into all of your business.”
Tate later added: “I remember when I hated you. I hated you. And then we might do something good and then I would flip straight away back into loving mode and then I’d have to almost lie about what I did before to get myself out of it.”
