Katie Price became very emotional when she discussed her mum’s terminal illness live on stage as she acknowledged that she had managed to make it to the theatre just days after leaving hospital
Katie Price became very emotional when she discussed her mum’s terminal illness live on stage. The ex-glamour model, 48, was speaking at the launch of her Sky documentary Katie Price: Nothing To Hide in London on Monday and thanked her mum Amy for also being there despite her ongoing health struggles.
Amy, 73, has battled idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) — a progressive and terminal lung condition — has faced significant health challenges over the years. The disease causes scarring of the lungs, making everyday tasks and even simple movements a struggle. Katie has long been vocal about her concern for her mum, often sharing the highs and lows of Amy’s health journey with her devoted fanbase.
According to The Sun, Katie told the audience: “She only got out of hospital five days ago and she’s been in there for weeks. And the fact you’re here looking gorgeous,” but she had to stop there to wipe her eyes as she began to cry.
Last month, Katie due to be joined by her husband Lee Andrews for their first joint TV interview on Tuesday’s edition of Good Morning Britain, but she ended up going solo amid speculation he had been “detained” at the airport in Dubai, and the whole thing paved the way for a bizarre series of twists and turns when his whereabouts became unknown before it emerged that he had been held at Al Awir prison.
Once Susanna Reid and Ed Balls had grilled the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star on the situation, Katie, who claimed Lee was just “sorting out business stuff,” then turned to the subject of her mum Amy.
Asked how her mum is doing now, Katie looked down the barrel of the camera as she dedicated a special message to her. She said: “My mum is poorly, I know you’re watching, I know you’re unwell but I just wanna say that I love you so much and I’m coming to see you tomorrow. She’s really not well and she’ll be tearing up watching this.”
Over the new year period, Katie celebrated the start of 2026 with a heartfelt message about her mum, revealing both joy and concern as she spoke about Amy’s health.
In the video, Katie highlighted how Amy’s physical condition has changed. “As you can all see, she is a lot more frail than she used to be,” she admitted. The admission was both honest and poignant, showing the reality behind caring for a parent whose health is in decline.
Yet Katie also emphasized her mum’s sharp mind and indomitable spirit:. At the time, she added: “But don’t let that fool you because her head is still screwed on!” Despite the challenges, Katie noted at the time that she was determined to make the most of her time with her mum.
She spoke with warmth about the plans she had for Amy, revealing that she had bought her a scooter to give her a “new lease of life” and that she hopes to take her on trips to the Isle of Wight.
In March last year, Katie explained that Amy had been struggling to walk after undergoing a lung transplant as she continues to fight IPF.
In a podcast update to fans at the time, the star revealed: “I do feel for you mum, because people have to understand what my mum’s gone through, like her brain is just so active and still switched on. She can’t do the things that she used to do, which is frustrating for her.”
She continued: “Now here’s an example, because I am a patient person, but when my mother teases me and says let’s go look at the shops in the Isle of Wight, shall I take my walker or wheelchair, and I’m like ‘No, we’re taking your wheelchair because I’m not taking an hour.”
