Teddie Beverley, who was the last remaining live member of the band The Beverley Sisters has died at the age of 99.

Teddie Beverley, who was the last remaining live member of the band The Beverley Sisters has died at the age of 99.

The band, comprised of three sisters, came to fame with their beloved Christmas songs including I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, Little Donkey, and Little Drummer Boy.

Teddie, whose real name was Hazel Pamela Chinery made up the band with her twin Babette (Babs) and her elder sister Jocelyn (Joy). The twins were born in 1932 and Joy in 1929, coincidentally on the same day of the year on May 5.

Babs died in 2018, at the age of 91, and Joy also died at the age of 91 in August 2015. In 2006, all three sisters were appointed Members of the British Empire in the New Year Honours list.

The band was at its peak popularity during the 1950s and 1960s, and became well-known through their radio and television appearances. Their main hits incldued their Christmas hits plus the song Sisters, and they charted in the US with their version of Greensleeves.
