Teeparru Village to Become First Model Pushkar Nagar

Kakinada:Tourism minister Kandula Durgesh has said the Teeparru village would be developed as Andhra Pradesh’s first model Pushkarm Village. The Thadekam Foundation would develop it.

Durgesh will launch the Maa Godavari Samkalp programme in Theeparru on Saturday.

He said that model village works would be completed by Sankrarnti in January 2027. The foundation has prepared a plan of action on how it would be developed as a model pollution-free and plastic-free pushkar ghat by coordinating with the central and state governments and collaborating with NEERI, a central government organisation.

As part of the initiative, the restoration of village tank and removing water hyacinth would be undertaken. The launch of plastic-free campaign that excludes the use of flex banners is also planned.

Additionally, plans are to set up two selfie points branded “I Love Godavari-My Theeparru’’ and identify 25 home-stays.

Durgesh said that to organize eco-friendly Godavari Pushkaralu, they would consult government adviser Chaganti Koteswara Rao to raise awareness on clean and green environment among the people and introduce adventure sports like Kayaking in the local canal. Another plan is to improve street lighting and create heritage streets along the ghat.

The minister said chief minister Chandrababu Naidu would visit pushkar ghat on November 24, on the eve of Karthika Pournami, and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan would visit the ghat and the village in January 2027.

Meanwhile, the East Godavari district collector Kirti Chekuri, joint collector Megha Swaroop, SP Narasimha Kishore, Rajamahendravaram municipal commissioner Rahul Meena, Pushkaralu deputy collector Mahesh and other officials visited Rajamahendravaram and Kovvuru on Friday and made preliminary assessments regarding the movement of the large crowds of devotees during the event, as well as traffic management, parking, temporary accommodation and the establishment of holding areas.

They inspected locations such as Auto Nagar, Diwan Cheruvu zero point, the Keshava Hospital Road, the Gaman Bridge, the Kateru underpass area, CTRI lands in Kateru, the Tirumala bus ground and the vicinity of Tirumala Papayya Nagar.

They travelled to Kovvuru before returning to Rajamahendraaram.

The officials reviewed the feasibility of setting up parking zones, holding areas and pushkar nagars in the respective locations.

The collector directed the officials from various departments to formulate an action plan through mutual coordination regarding traffic diversion, emergency services, drinking water, sanitation, electricity, medical services, security arrangements and public amenities.

She said that the municipal administration minister P Narayana would visit the Pushkar ghats in Rajamahendravaram on Saturday.
