
Nalgonda: Two persons were killed and four others injured in a road accident at Aswaraopeta in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Thursday.
Police identified the deceased as Kovvasi Nagaraju, 41, and Chittu Chukkaiah, 52, both residents of Aswaraopeta. The injured were identified as Soyam Ramesh, Madakam Santhosh, Madakam Somaraj and Gaddala Venkat Rao.
According to police, the accident occurred near Rythu Vedika when a tractor carrying the victims was hit by a lorry coming in the opposite direction. The lorry, reportedly loaded with rice bags and travelling from Khammam to Kakinada, hit the tractor, resulting in the fatalities on the spot.
The lorry driver fled from the scene after the accident, police said.
Aswaraopeta police reached the spot and shifted the injured to Government General Hospital, Khammam for treatment. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
