Hyderabad: The Karimnagar range Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a surprise check at the unit office of the Transport department in Korutla in Jagtial district.

During surprise check, office records, financial transactions, challans, pending applications, and overall functioning of the office was verified and several irregularities were noticed.

During the verification, it came to light that a transport department constable N. Girish Kumar is conducting driving test and checking registration of vehicles in the absence of Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI).

The staff indulged in collection of excess amount from the public through agents for doing official favour. The agents are having free access to the office regarding the applications made by common public and are dealing with the staff concerned of RTA office until completion of their work.

There is no proper maintenance of records and registers apart from lack of supervision on subordinates pertaining to their work and allocated duties. The place where driving test is to be conducted is not up to the standards of Transport department. No sign boards were present in the driving track.
