Hyderabad: The BJP has intensified its efforts to select candidates for the two graduate MLC seats that will be held soon.
The screening committee appointed by the party has submitted its report to BJP state president N. Ramchandra Rao. Since the number of aspirants for the MLC seats is huge, the party high command has fielded separate three-man committees for the two seats.
These committees gathered opinions from the party’s top leaders and local leaders at the field level on Tuesday. For Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Mahabubnagar seats, the committee met with the leaders of these constituencies at the Hyderabad Party Office.
It collected details from local leaders and public representatives one by one and recorded who was in favor of the candidature. It is learnt that a total of 15 names have been proposed, including the name of state president Ramchandra Rao.
The screening committee held consultations with key leaders from Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda with Warangal as its center. Key opinions were taken from the leaders on the proposals from local leaders as well as outsiders who are hoping for a ticket.
It is learnt that very few names have been received here. Whether these lists should be given, the state core committee will meet tomorrow and send three names to the national high command.
The candidates will be officially announced as soon as possible after the high command gives its approval.
