KARIMNAGAR: The Kothapalli police have arrested Armed Reserve (AR) constable Medaboina Nagaraju after he allegedly placed ganja in a fertilizer shop with the crooked motive of implicating the owner.
Producing the accused before the media here on Friday, Karimnagar rural ACP Vijay Kumar said he was a native of Gujjulapalli in Saidapur mandal. “Nagaraju is staying at Sitarampur in Karimnagar town. A 2013 batch APSP constable, Nagaraju later shifted to AR and is presently working with the EAGLE team,” he said.
The arrested cop had friendship with Thodeti Srinivas of Kondapur of Chigurumamidi mandal. Srinivas has a land dispute with Matta Srinivas Reddy of the same village.
Srinivas Reddy runs a fertilizer shop, Agros Rythu Seva Kendram, in Indurthy of Chigurumamidi mandal.
With a view to sending Srinivas Reddy to jail by fixing him in a criminal case, Nagaraju along with Srinivas and three others — Sadanandam, Ashok and Akash — hatched a conspiracy to fix the victim in a ganja case, the police FIR stated.
Nagaraju allegedly brought marijuana from Warangal with the help of his friend, who was also a ganja paddler and “placed 1kg of ganja in Srinivas Reddy’s fertilizer shop.”
After this, the cop alerted the Chigurumamidi police, which rushed to the shop, carried out a raid of the fertilizer shop, took hold of the ganja, and arrested Srinivas Reddy.
Villagers smelt a rat. They knew Srinivas Reddy was a straight person. They collectively asked the police for a thorough investigation. On Friday, police carried out a check on the accused cop’s Karimnagar residence and seized 370.96 grams of ganja.
Police subsequently arrested Nagaraju and booked him under section 8(c) r/w 20(b)(ii)(A) of NDPS Act.
