Telangana Excise Dept Invites Applications To Set Up 41 New 2B Bars

A notification inviting applications for setting up 41 new 2B bars in the state was issued by the Department on Tuesday. According to the notification, interested applicants can submit their applications from September 28 to October 12. Officials stated that an application fee of Rs. 1 lakh has been fixed per application. Apart from this fee, excise department rules regarding license grant, bar excise tax, and other aspects will apply.

Of the 41 2B bars, 14 will be set up within the GHMC limits and the Core Urban Region (CURE) covering Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri, and another 27 bars will be set up within the limits of other municipal corporations and municipalities, as mentioned in the notification.

The notification lists Devarkadra, Ellampalli, Maddur and Gummadidala, Muduchintalapally, Yellampet, Aswaraopeta, Kalluru, Makthal, Gaddapotaram, Kohir, Bodhan, Bichkunda, Chevella, Moinabad, Kodangal, Parigi, Narsampet, Station Ghanpur, Kesamudram and Mulugu areas.

As per Telangana Excise Department rules, there is a special process for obtaining a license for 2B bars. According to official details, there are prescribed fees for Form 1(A) for pre-clearance and Form 1(B) for subsequent application for a new 2B bar. The bar excise tax varies based on the population of the area. Issuing new licenses will not only provide an opportunity for bar and restaurant operations in the respective areas but also generate excise revenue for the government.

The department has also made the current 2B bar license details, services, and fees available on the official portal of the Prohibition and Excise Department. Applicants can submit their applications until 5 PM on October 12, and the department will conduct the draw of lots at 11.00 IST on October 16.
