HANAMKONDA: Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy on Saturday demanded that K.T. Rama Rao issue a public apology over the alleged failures of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. Reacting to Rama Rao’s visit to the project, the Congress legislator said the previous BRS government must explain the alleged structural defects, operational issues and financial burden on the state exchequer.
He said the BRS leadership had shown no remorse over the shortcomings in one of the state’s largest infrastructure projects, constructed with public funds. Rajender Reddy said a site visit would not address the losses to the state or public concerns.
The MLA called on the BRS leadership to accept responsibility for alleged flaws in planning, execution and maintenance of the project and to offer an unconditional apology.
He further alleged that the state’s economy was affected during the previous BRS regime, citing debt and financial management concerns. He said the public had not forgotten the economic challenges that followed the earlier government’s policies.
Rajender Reddy also accused leaders associated with the Telangana movement of prioritising political and personal interests after coming to power. He said the electorate had delivered a verdict against the BRS and asked its leadership to reflect on the reasons for its defeat.
He added that the present Congress government was committed to transparency and accountability, and said attempts to influence public opinion through political campaigns would not succeed.
