ADILABAD: The revenue department has initiated the process of land acquisition for a proposed industrial park in Adilabad by conducting gram sabhas in Rampur and Gimma villages of Bhoraj mandal on Friday and Saturday amid police security.
Officials are scheduled to hold another gram sabha in Guda village on Monday as part of the process.
Adilabad RDO Jagadeeshwar Rao and Bhoraj Tahasildar Babu Singh participated in the meetings.
Revenue authorities have identified 2,062.01 acres across four villages in Bhoraj mandal for the project. The identified land includes 259.23 acres in Guda, 333.38 acres in Rampur, 274.09 acres in Gimma-(B) and 1,194.11 acres in Hattighat.
The department plans to classify the land based on fertility — including fertile, semi-agricultural and barren categories — before determining compensation.
At the gram sabha in Rampur, officials indicated that the state government may offer ₹12 lakh per acre. Villagers, however, sought ₹25 lakh per acre, citing dependence on the land for livelihood.
During the meeting in Gimma, farmers from Hattighat demanded ₹40 lakh per acre, stating that their lands are fertile.
Rampur sarpanch Bathula Srinivas said villagers wanted to hold a separate gram sabha to pass a resolution seeking ₹25 lakh per acre compensation.
The land acquisition process began with the issuance of a preliminary notification on May 29 for acquiring 1,194.11 acres from 299 farmers in Hattighat village. Subsequently, lands in Gimma-B, Rampur, Guda and Korata villages in Bhoraj mandal were identified for the project.
The acquisition process is under way with consultations through gram sabhas and assessment of land categories for compensation.
