Hyderabad: The state government will host Raksha Expo 2026, the first state-level expo bringing together the aerospace, space, defence and internal security sectors, at Bharat Future City from December 7 to 9 as part of the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026.
The expo’s curtain-raiser will be held at Falaknuma Palace on Saturday, with over 80 industry leaders in attendance, including global aerospace and defence original equipment manufacturers, startups, and representatives of BDL, Midhani, ECIL, BEL, AVNL, DRDO, and Bharat Forge, as well as serving and retired armed forces personnel.
A curtain-raiser for the Global Summit is scheduled in Delhi on October 29.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said Telangana must lead the transformation underway in the defence industry, as emerging technologies such as drones and new-generation missiles reshape warfare.
He said defence, space, aerospace and internal security would be integral to the Telangana Rising 2047 vision and the target of building a $1 trillion economy by 2034.
Inspired by the ideal of Raksha Paramo Dharmah – protection is the highest duty – the Expo draws on a heritage of engineering and protection that runs from Warangal’s Kakatiya Kala Thoranam to the architecture of Golconda Fort.
That legacy finds expression in a strategic manufacturing ecosystem that builds technologies safeguarding India and its partners.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju said Hyderabad had contributed to India’s strategic programmes, including missiles, fighter aircraft, satellites and secure communications, and accounted for nearly 30 per cent of the country’s defence and aerospace industry.
The expo would facilitate partnerships among manufacturers, startups, MSMEs and investors, strengthening India’s self-reliance in defence, he said.
The initiative comes amid growing emphasis on domestic defence production and resilient supply chains.
India’s defence production touched a record ₹1.78 lakh crore in 2025-26, while exports reached ₹38,424 crore.
Telangana’s aerospace and defence exports also recorded strong growth.
Aerospace exports increased from ₹15,900 crore in 2023-24 to ₹30,742 crore in 2024-25, registering nearly 93 per cent growth.
The sector is expanding at over 30 per cent annually, supported by the state’s strategic location and established manufacturing ecosystem.
