Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad (IMD‑H) has issued a yellow alert across Telangana for six days, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in most districts, including Hyderabad.
Officials said thunderstorm activity will persist from April 21 to 26, with gusty winds of 40–50 kmph likely at isolated places in districts such as Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal‑Malkajgiri, Nizamabad, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Sangareddy and Medak.
While an orange alert was issued earlier for a few districts, the concern now is the continued yellow alert across the state, signalling widespread but less severe storm activity.
The forecast indicates light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places during the period. In Hyderabad, partly cloudy skies are expected, with rain or thundershowers likely in the evening or night over the next couple of days. Maximum temperatures will hover around 40–41°C.
Despite the rain forecast, officials said no major drop in temperatures is expected in the next three days. The combination of high daytime heat and evening thunderstorms is likely to continue across the state, keeping weather activity active through the week.
