Iconic Brisbane brewpub Green Beacon will close in Teneriffe at the end of the month. Its final day of trade will be October 30.
Requests for comment from both Green Beacon and owner Asahi Beverages went unanswered on Wednesday, but staff at the Teneriffe brewpub confirmed the news that afternoon.
The future of the brand remains uncertain, with a development application lodged by Frank Developments on September 1 for Elena, an eight-storey boutique residential project that will encompass Green Beacon’s 26 Helen Street address.
Green Beacon was a Brisbane craft brewing pioneer, originally opening in its Teneriffe warehouse in January 2013.
It quickly became part of a Teneriffe-Newstead craft beer triumvirate alongside Tippler’s Tap, which opened on Masters Street in 2012, and the original Newstead Brewing Co, which opened on Doggett Street in December 2013.

It went on to win numerous domestic and international awards.
Global beverage giant Asahi bought Green Beacon in 2019. Asahi later closed the brand’s Geebung production brewery in mid-2023.
