The Tennessee Volunteers and Texas Longhorns are set to face off in what is going to be a top-15 showdown on Saturday afternoon. Both teams come in undefeated, eager to start SEC play in what is going to be a gauntlet.

It is such a big game as Peyton Manning‘s nephew, Arch, will be the Longhorns’ quarterback. A lot of storylines come with it, and College GameDay will be in town.
“The Texas Longhorns’ first SEC game of the 2026 season just got a little bigger. ESPN announced Sunday that College GameDay will be in Knoxville ahead of Texas’ matchup with Tennessee on Saturday, Sept. 26. The show will return to the Tennessee campus for the 13th time when the Volunteers host the top-ranked Longhorns at Neyland Stadium,” SI’s Phoenix Haigis wrote.
Another storyline heading into the game is running back Deshawn Bishop. The senior RB had over 1,000 yards on the ground last season. He was injured on Saturday night, and head coach Josh Heupel gave an injury update on Monday.
“(Bishop) is feeling pretty good,” Heupel said during his weekly press conference on Sept. 21. “We’ll make sure he’s fully ready to go on Saturday.”

This is great news for the Volunteers, as it is going to be tough enough beating Texas at full strength. Bishop is a huge part of the offense. He landed awkwardly on his hip Saturday night, leading to his injury.
“Bishop, a former Karns High standout, landed awkwardly after a 26-yard run in which he broke multiple tackles in the second quarter. He put his hand on his left hip. Then he walked off the field on his own power after being attended to by athletic trainers. Bishop went directly to the medical tent,” Knox News’ Adam Sparks wrote.
This is a huge development for Tennessee heading into what is possibly the biggest test of the season for the Volunteers. Bishop is not only a great running back, but he is also a true leader that every player looks up to.
Heupel and his staff know the importance of getting Bishop ready to play. The Volunteers have already lost an offensive weapon in Ethan Davis to a torn ACL, and they are hoping another huge offensive threat isn’t going to miss time with an injury.
