Terra has landed firmly following a skip and a jump from its former premises. The smoked brisket may have gone – a victim of space restrictions – but the charcoal-grill continues to deliver hearty plates of Barnsley (doubled-sided) lamb chops with fennel butter from nearby Cowra, Bannockburn rotisserie chicken or a whopping Cape Byron tomahawk steak.
A “feed me” menu for two offers several meats and stylish sides − including charred broccolini in burnt miso butter or kingfish tartare, or fried cauliflower with almond and curry leaves − ending with a smoky Basque cheesecake. Terra’s extensive cellar retains its edge, too, with options ranging from Patrick Sullivan to Ochota Barrels.
A cosy and lively dining space accommodates dates as much as groups. And judging by a large and convivial midweek, mid-winter crowd, Terra remains on firm ground in times of stretched budgets.
Good to know: Lunch is counter service only, reserved for walk-ins who pick proteins and sides from the array laid out on the Terra Bench.
