Tess Daly and Vernon Kay were spotted having a surprise reunion this week, weeks after announcing their divorce
Despite their shock divorce announcement last month, Vernon Kay is still making sure to support estranged wife Tess Daly as much as possible – as he was spotted in one of her videos.
The pair, who share daughters Phoebe and Amber together, revealed their decision to end their marriage after 23 years in a joint statement last month.
At the time, they insisted that they would remain “great friends” and they have clearly stuck to this, as the BBC Radio 2 host, 52, remained by his ex’s side while she was on promotional duties.
On Wednesday, the former Strictly Come Dancing presenter – who has kept her wedding ring on – stopped by John Lewis in Oxford Street to rave about her new Naia Beach collection alongside her business partner.
In one video from the day, shared on Instagram the pair were joined by Vernon for their big moment. “Here we are at John Lewis Oxford Street at their flagship store talking all things Naia,” Tess, 57, said before panning the camera across to her former partner.
Vernon then appeared in another video where he raved about the collection and pointed out his favourite swimsuit, which was designed with the help of their eldest daughter.
“I’ve been [on] the whole journey throughout the Naia Beach development process and now it’s absolutely flying and I’ve seen how it’s gone from strength to strength to strength,” he said, before picking up the swimming costume and attempting to model it – leading to laughs from Tess and co behind the scenes.
Emphasising how close they still are, Vernon also mentioned Tess on his BBC Radio 2 show, as he opened up about hacks for the heatwave – and shared how their dog had “struggled” in the sun.
“We wrapped our Chihuahua last night, in a towel, a wet towel,” he told listeners. “Little Blue. He was struggling, he really was struggling, do you know what I mean? Little, little lad.
“He’s a big ‘un, so he’s struggling. So Tess said, ‘Why don’t we just put him in a wet towel?’ So I was like, ‘yeah, looks like a poncho’. So, he had this poncho over him all night, just chilling.”
The pair hit it off at a Christmas party and first started dating in 2001, before walking down the aisle two years later.
Last month, they left fans reeling when they confirmed their split, more than two decades after they said their vows. In a joint statement, they said: “After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably.
“This has not been an easy choice, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire for what is best for both of us.
“We remain great friends and more importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority.
“There are no other parties involved in this decision. We kindly ask for privacy during this time as we navigate this transition together. We will not be making any further public comments.”
