Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian admitted this week the Longhorns are “beat up” ahead of their upcoming game at Missouri. Just how short-handed Sarkisian’s squad really is won’t be determined until kickoff in Columbia late Saturday morning.
Two of Texas’ most important players are listed as questionable on the latest availability report released Friday night: wide receiver Cam Coleman and edge rusher Colin Simmons. Wide receiver Ryan Wingo was upgraded from questionable to probable Friday, as were defensive backs Kade Phillips and Graceson Littleton. Running back Hollywood Smothers, offensive tackle Trevor Goosby, tight end Nick Townsend and edge rusher Richard Wesley are each listed as out.

The five potential absences represent significant production for the Longhorns on both sides of the ball. Simmons leads the NCAA entering Saturday with 10.5 sacks despite missing each of Texas’ last two games with a high-ankle sprain. Wingo and Coleman have scored 11 of Texas’ 15 receiving touchdowns this season, and Phillips and Littleton have started in 15 of a possible 16 combined games.
Texas suffered two frustrating injury exits in recent weeks with season-ending injuries to Goosby and Smothers. The Longhorns still hold out hope for the injury status of a collection of key players before facing Missouri, including their most productive pieces on both sides of the ball.
