Hyderabad: The Telangana government has urged the Centre to begin construction of the proposed 6‑km LB Nagar–Hayathnagar double‑decker corridor and adopt a viaduct model instead of a Reinforced Earth (RE) wall on the LB Nagar–Malkapur section of NH‑65 to avoid large‑scale property acquisition.

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy made the requests to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday during a two‑day national conclave convened by the Centre in Gujarat to review road projects and pending proposals from states. He sought sanction for the double‑decker elevated corridor under the 2026‑27 Annual Plan and urged the Centre to replace the proposed RE wall with a viaduct, saying this would avoid property acquisition and enable seamless integration with Phase‑II of the Miyapur–LB Nagar Metro Rail expansion.

Venkat Reddy also sought final approval from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) for widening NH‑65 to a six‑lane (6+2) configuration, pointing out that traffic had crossed 1.20 lakh Passenger Car Units (PCUs) a day and the corridor had several accident‑prone locations and black spots. He pressed for early financial and Cabinet clearances for the 161.5‑km Northern Regional Ring Road (RRR) from Sangareddy to Choutuppal, noting that more than 90 per cent of land acquisition awards had been completed and NHAI tenders floated. He urged the Centre to take up the Southern RRR on similar terms, citing its importance for Bharat Future City and industrial clusters.

The minister requested expediting the DPR for a high‑speed freight corridor linking Telangana’s proposed dry port with Bandar Port in Andhra Pradesh. He also sought Rs 1,230 crore for five eco‑friendly tourist and spiritual ropeways connecting Yadadri, Hanuman Hill, Nagarjuna Sagar, Ramagiri Fort and Killa Ramalayam. In addition, he asked for an elevated corridor on NH‑765 through the tiger reserve on the Hyderabad–Srisailam route to protect wildlife while improving pilgrim connectivity.

Venkat Reddy further requested Rs 1,227.75 crore for 33 CRIF road projects covering 511.68 km and approval for three ROBs/RUBs at Kothagudem, Sultanabad and Nalgonda under the 2026‑27 programme.
